Privacy & House Rules
Short version: we store your email so we can tell you where the next ride starts. We don't sell it, we don't track you, and you can have it deleted by asking.
What we collect
When you join, the form sends us your email address. Our server also records a few things automatically, and we'd rather list them than let you find out later:

| Signup status flags | Two internal yes/no markers — whether your address has been confirmed, and whether it has been synced to our mail sender yet. |
That's the whole list. No cookies. No analytics. No tracking pixels. No advertising or marketing scripts. The fonts are served from our own server, so no font company sees your visit either.
Two details we'd rather spell out than let you discover. Our host, Cloudflare, serves the site and stores the signup list on our behalf, so they process this data for us. And Cloudflare tries to add its own page-view counter to every page it serves — this site sends a Content-Security-Policy that blocks it, so in any current browser it never loads and never reports anything. We'd rather have no numbers than take yours. Cloudflare also sees your IP address on every request, the way any web host does; it sits in their logs for a short period and we use it to rate-limit the signup form against bots.
What we don't do
- We never sell, rent or share your email with anyone.
- We don't build advertising profiles or run retargeting.
- We don't email you about anything except the club — rides, meet-ups, and what's in the growler.
Getting your data out, or deleted
Email hello@oaklandcyclingclub.com and say the word. We'll send you everything we hold on you, or delete it, usually the same week. No forms, no hoops, no "are you sure?" three times.
If you're in California, the CCPA gives you the right to know what's collected, to have it deleted, and not to be discriminated against for asking. Nothing above is conditional on you not asking.
How long we keep it
Until you ask us to delete it, or until the club stops existing — whichever comes first. We don't currently expire records automatically, because a list of people waiting on a first ride that hasn't happened yet shouldn't quietly empty itself. If that changes, this page changes with it.
Unsubscribing. Nothing has been sent yet. Every email we ever send will carry a one-click unsubscribe, and until that exists the mailto above does the same job — ask, and you're off the list the same week.
House rules
21+, and we card
The members' pour is for people 21 and over. You confirm your age when you join, and we check ID in person at the pour — every person, every time, no exceptions. If you'd rather not be carded, there's water and you're still welcome on the ride.
The beer is never sold
It's homebrew, shared with members at club events. It is not for sale, not now and not later — there's no price, no donation, no cover, no "suggested contribution." If anyone ever asks you for money for a pour, that's not us.
Rides roll out sober
Nobody drinks before or during a ride. The pour happens after the bikes are parked, and if you're riding home afterward, don't. Lock up and walk, or wait it out.
You ride at your own risk
Cycling on public roads is dangerous and we're a group of people on bikes, not a professional outfit. Helmets are required. You're responsible for your own bike, your own body, and obeying traffic law. We'll have a signed waiver for you at your first ride — joining the list isn't a substitute for it.
